Backeberg Radcliffe notes about ESS, January 2013
Adriene and I had a mini-meeting about ESS Vision somewhere around the first week of January. Putting these notes on confluence before I lose them.
- want to separate incidents and SCTASKS (REQUESTS) back out to separate listings. The reason we want to separate them is because REQUESTS have stages and status that we want to make visible. Currently we have a gauge that provides a combined view. But to get that, we had to lose the graphical workflow progress indicator. She wants us to separate the listings so we can bring back the graphical progress. Theoretically, the workflow progress will be especially helpful once START is integrated.
- find out about delegations. I think she was talking about what to do when people are on vacation, or whether specific roles can be handed to subordinates by supervisors. - Please review that functionality which exists in the full tool, but not on the self-service page. Is it possible to create a link to the delegations section from the place where your PROFILE is listed. (this is something we would have to train business managers to do when they are on extended leave for example)
- remove search box from top right corner, since it's pretty useless (not context sensitive to ESS)
move My Preferences to top right corner, between Name and Logout. Top menu would look like
My Services | My Tickets | My Requests | My Approvals
- We had been talking about access to various systems, and how we eventually one button to shut it all off when somebody leaves. My services shows you the systems you currently have access to today and the ones you can ask for based on your role. This is probably a web site page fed by IDM. But for a first pass it could just be the high level service catalog
