How can I resize the disk of my Spinup server?
When working with Spinup servers, it's essential to understand the capabilities and limitations regarding disk resizing. You have the flexibility to expand any of the disks attached to your servers up to a maximum size of 10 TB. However, it's important to note that once expanded, these disks cannot be reduced in size. Additionally, this resizing feature is not available for TryIT servers.
To resize a disk, simply navigate to the bottom of your server page in Spinup and locate the "Disks" panel. Here, you'll find a list of all attached disks, with the root disk displayed by default. To initiate the resizing process, click on the gear icon under the 'Actions' column next to the desired disk and enter the new size in the pop-up window.
After resizing, the updated disk size will appear in the Disks panel, usually within a few minutes. Keep in mind that there is a mandatory waiting period of at least 6 hours before you can resize the same disk again; attempting to do so within this timeframe will result in an error.
For Linux servers, if you're resizing the root disk, be aware that due to MBR partitioning limitations, you cannot use more than 2 TB. Should you require more space, it's advisable to add a new disk. Following the disk resize, you may need to manually extend the file system from the OS to make the new capacity usable. Detailed instructions for this can be found in AWS's documentation - for Linux servers, visit AWS's Linux Volume Expansion Guide. In the case of Windows servers, the file system should extend automatically.
