How do I connect to a Linux server?
Objective
Establish a connection to a Linux server created in Spinup.
Introduction
Spinup offers a service around Amazon Elastic Cloud Compute (EC2), allowing university researchers to quickly provision virtual servers within Yale’s network. In this guide, you will learn how to add your SSH key to your profile in Spinup, and connect to a Linux server created in Spinup.
Connecting to a Server
To establish a connection, your SSH key must be present on the server you're trying to access.
Whenever you create servers, your key will be automatically added from your profile. For guidance on adding your SSH key to your Spinup profile, please refer to How do I add an SSH Key in Spinup? .
If you're trying to connect to servers that were set up by others in Spinup, they'll need to add your SSH key to that server. For instructions on how to add a user to a Spinup server, see How Do I Add Users to My Server?.
Should your department require assistance accessing a server, especially if the server owner is no longer available, please contact support at cloudeng@yale.edu.
