Creating Workflows
A JIRA workflow is a set of statuses and transitions that an issue moves through during its lifecycle and typically represents processes within your organization. There are default built-in workflows that cannot be edited; however, you can copy and use these workflows to create your own.
You can also create your own workflows from scratch, or import workflows from Atlassian Marketplace. Workflows can be associated with particular projects and, optionally, specific issue types, by using a workflow scheme.
You will need to log in as a user with the 'JIRA System Administrators' global permission to access and manage workflows.

Step-by-step guide
To Create a JIRA Workflow:
- Click the cogs icon on the top right of screen and select Issues
- Click on Workflows on the left
- Click on Add Workflow button on the right.
- Once your workflow has been created you can edit it by locating it and pressing the Edit button. You can edit it from the diagram view or the text view.
- The Linked Status is what will show on the issue view status. You can only select existing Linked Statuses which you can create. The transitions are the pathways the current status can go to. They will also show up as buttons on the issue view to allow the issue to move to a new status. If there are no transitions then the issue will not be able to change statuses.
Create Linked Status:
- Click the cogs icon on the top right of screen and select Issues
- Click on Statuses under ISSUE ATTRIBUTES on the left
- Press Add status button on the right.
Modify Test Statuses on the Zephyr (Test Cases) Workflow
- Click the cogs icon on top right of screen
- Click on Add-ons
- Click on Customize Test Status or Customize Step Status tab under ZEPHYR FOR JIRA CLOUD on the left.
- You can add status, description, and color.
Notes:
- The Zephyr workflow is not connected to the JIRA workflow. The Test Cases can have an issue status for the JIRA workflow and a test execution status for the ZEPHYR workflow.
