Reporting Tool Evaluation
Search this documentation
We have narrowed our evaluation down to two potential candidates:
Jaspersoft from Tibco and Toad from Quest. For each of these solutions we are exploring adhoc and canned reporting capabilities and associated features.
Jaspersoft:
- Use Jasper Server (we have installed a trial of the Enterprise version) for ad-hoc reporting and publishing reports. **You must be on Yale Secure or VPN to access
- Use these credentials to login:
- Organization: Sandbox
- User: test_user
- Password: testuser
- How to access
- You will need to create a domain in order to use the ad-hoc reporting functionality
- Use Jasper Studio to create canned reports, you can publish directly to Jasper Server from the studio
- Getting Started w/ Jasper Studio
- Please make sure an install version 6.3.0 – we found the newer version buggy

Toad:
- Use Toad Data Point for Canned Reporting ** We have not yet explored using Toad for ad-hoc reporting though documentation says it is possible.
- Use Toad Intelligence Central for Publishing ** IN PROGRESS we are still having issues connecting to a data source *** There does not appear to be a feature in Toad Intelligence Central for report creation
- Select ‘Register as new user:
- **You must be on Yale Secure or VPN to access
- Create an account at: http://172.17.172.75/ to connect to the toad server in browser
- Uncheck ‘use my active directory details:
- Use your netID as a username (We will try and get this to work w/ CAS)
