Problem

Info

One of the benefits of cloud computing is elasticity – the ability to scale the size of your server up and down with your needs. If your computing needs grow, you can resize your server (increase the CPU and memory). Conversely, if you have more power than you need and which to save money, you can also downsize to a smaller size with less CPU and memory. This does not affect the size of your disks, which is covered in How can I resize the disk of my Spinup server?

Solution

Here's how you can resize your server to add or remove CPU and memory.

  1. First determine what size will suit your needs. The easiest place to see all the sizes and what resources they come with is to go through the server creation process and look at the Select Size page

  2. Go to the server details page for the server you wish to resize. You will have to shut down the server first before you can proceed with the re-size. Do this with the Shut Down button on the right-hand side.

  2. Once the server has been shut down, the Resize server button below it will be enabled. Click the Resize button and select your desired size.

  2. Once you click Resize you should see a green banner indicating that it has been successful. You can now power your server back on.

Info

Please note that TryIT servers can not be resized until they are upgraded to a paid option. Disk size is unaffected by this change.
