How to Create a Student Project on Google Cloud Platform

This article explains how to create a student project on GCP

Instructions

  1. Login to the GCP console using these Login to GCP.

  2. In the search box, type “Billing”. Select “Billing accounts”

  3. Click the MANAGE BILLING ACCOUNT button.

  4. Click ADD BILLING ACCOUNT.

  5. Create a new billing account. You may use the name “NetID [use your network ID] Personal Billing Account”. Leave the other values at their defaults and click CONTINUE.

  6. Enter payment information.


    Newly registered users are eligible for $300 of credit for 90 days to allow them to acquaint themselves with the platform. Once the trial period ends or the credits are expended, any existing projects associated with this billing account will be suspended until the billing account is converted to a paid tier backed by the credit card on record. Also, students sponsored by faculty or instructors using GCP for educational purposes may apply for an annual $300 credit.

  7. Click SUBMIT AND ENABLE BILLING.

  8. In the search box type “Project” and select “Create a Project”

  9. Enter a value for Project name * (this value should be a name that you will easily remember, here we use “NetId”). Select the billing account that you just created in the drop down list Billing account *. Leave Organization * alone. Click Yale University under Location * and select Yale undergraduate projects.

  10. After entering these values, click CREATE.

  11. Your new project will be created. Click SELECT PROJECT to go your project’s dashboard page.
