How do I add a COA?

How do I add a COA?

Problem

I need to add a COA to Spinup.

Solution

There are a few ways to add a COA to Spinup. Adding one is optional, but necessary unless all you are using is TryIT. You can enter one when you first create a space, in the box entitled “Abbreviated COA.” If you have already created your space and did not add a COA at the time, or if you want to change it, you can do so by going to your space and selecting the “settings” tab, shown here.

You then need to click on “finances,” which should show you your funding sources. Click “add a COA” to proceed, and then fill in the necessary information.

You will first need to select the COA type. If you a long string with a "YD" in it, that's a Yale Designated type. If it instead contains a "GR", that's a grant type. Note that at this time we do not support "Splitting" your expenses across multiple COAs.

This would apply to any resources in this particular space. If you prefer to keep things separate, you can also simply have one space for each COA.
