What Are the Restrictions for TryIT?
TryIT provides users with a no-cost environment to explore Spinup services. These Spaces are designed for experimentation and learning but come with limitations to prevent excessive resource use.
What Is TryIT?
TryIT is a free tier Space that allows eligible users to run one small virtual instance each month at no charge. It’s ideal for testing cloud configurations, learning Spinup operations, and developing proof-of-concept systems.
Key Restrictions
Resource Type | Limitations |
|---|---|
Instance | One small instance (t3.micro or equivalent) per user per month |
Run Time | Instance may need to be stopped or cleaned up if inactive for more than 7 consecutive days |
Storage | 50 GB of attached volume (EBS) |
Databases | No RDS or managed database support in TryIT Spaces |
Networking | Public firewall access must still be configured manually |
Use Cases Allowed in TryIT
Learning Spinup UI and workflows
Testing basic Linux or Windows commands
Evaluating small proof-of-concept deployments
What Isn’t Allowed?
Mission-critical or production workloads
Large-scale compute or storage (beyond free-tier limits)
Long-running services that consume resources beyond the 7‑day rule
Troubleshooting
My TryIT space expired early?
You may have exceeded runtime or storage limits. Manually stop or delete the instance to reset eligibility.
