Problem

Info

Snapshots are point-in-time captures of your system's disks. They can be used to recover your system to an earlier state, should you delete critical files or mis-configure something beyond repair. Spinup instances are automatically snapshotted nightly (these snapshots are retained for 14 days). However, if you want to create your own snapshot manually (say before a major configuration change), you can do that, too.

Solution

  1. Determine which disk you want to snapshot. Snapshots in Spinup are per-disk. If you only have one disk on your system, then the determination is easy!

  2. On the server details page, click the Camera icon next to the disk you wish to snapshot.

  1. Image Added
  2. Type a description that will help you identify this snapshot later (the creation date will show when you are viewing it later, so you don't necessarily need to add it). Empty descriptions are not allowed.

...

  1. Image Added
  2. Click Create. Your snapshot will be available in just a few seconds.

Info

Remember, snapshots are taken only of one disk at a time. If you have multiple disks, make sure you snapshot the one that has the data you wish to have available for recovery.
